Beschreibung des Angebots

Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) ist eine Nachdiplomausbildung der Hochschulen und entspricht mindestens 10 ECTS-Punkten. Dieses CAS verlangt 19 ECTS-Punkte.

The program provides economic and legal insight into sports organizations and analyzes how they operate and integrate on a national and international level.

The first module provides an economic and legal insight into sports organizations. The second module addresses the question of how sporting organizations tackle the current challenges of doping, illegal betting, gaming manipulation and corruption, that are endangering the fundamental principles of sporting competition

Module 1 - Organisation and good Governance:

  • Introduction to association law
  • Organisation of Sport at the International level
  • Establishing and enforcing uniform rules (incl ethic and compliance)
  • Sport and the public sector / european law
  • The American sports model
  • The French sports model
  • Issues connected to providing sports services
  • Inhouse-counsel in an international sports federation
  • Civil and criminal liability arising out of participation in sport
  • Tax and sports
  • Economic value of sporting events
  • Visit of the FIFA headquarters

Module 2 - Dispute Resolution - General and Specific Areas:

  • Anti-doping – scientific challenges / legal framework
  • Dispute resolution
  • Match manipulation – scientific challenges / legal framework
  • Financial fair play – scientific challenges / legal
  • Appeals against CAS awards
  • CAS and ECHR
  • Big cases of the year
  • Anti-corruption – scientific challenges / legal framework
  • Ad hoc arbitration and moot court

Classes are held Friday afternoons and Saturday mornings.

Aufbau der Ausbildung

1 ECTS-Punkt entspricht einem Aufwand von 25-30 Arbeitsstunden. 

Voraussetzungen

Zulassung

  • Degree in Law at the Masters level (exceptions will be considered on a case-by-case basis)
  • Professional experience
  • Good verbal and written knowledge of the teaching languages, English.

Lawyers seeking to acquire deeper knowledge in legal and business aspects of international sports.

Kosten

CAS: CHF 9'500.-  including costs for course materials, examination fees as well as a block seminar
