Beschreibung

Beschreibung des Angebots

This Master’s degree offers a complete education for future actuaries and risk managers. An actuary is a business professional who deals with the financial impact of risk and uncertainty, typically in insurance firms, multinationals and pension funds.

The program is interdisciplinary, combining technical, quantitative courses with applied courses in (financial and insurance) regulation, applications in (non-) life insurance, valuation and risk management

Organisation des études

From the first to the third semester, students follow compulsory and optional courses in different areas of actuarial science, ranging from (non-) life insurance, quantitative risk management, financial engineering, to actuarial data science.

The first semester (30 ECTS) sets the mathematical foundations of the program, giving background in probability, stochastic processes, programming and calculus.

The second and third semesters (60 ECTS) comprise the core syllabus of the main areas of actuarial science, including actuarial techniques for life insurance, risk theory, modeling distributions of claims/losses, social security, pension funds management, advanced actuarial modeling, credibility theory, accounting, asset and liability management for insurance companies, and actuarial data science. A variety of optional courses give students the opportunity to either set their own focus in one of these areas or to widen the interdisciplinary approach of the program.

The fourth semester is dedicated to the Master thesis (30 ECTS). There is the option to either choose an academic thesis or to go for an internshipbased thesis.

For more informations, see the study plan.

The master's degree represents the second university degree after the bachelor's degree and is generally equivalent to the acquisition of 90-120 ECTS credits.

1 ECTS credit corresponds to approximately 25-30 hours of work.
